Classical Homeopathy for Anxiety and Jealousy – page 178

The mind makes a connection, projects something into this unknown something under the glistening surface, and this creates the fear.

So: in order to understand the remedy we have to understand the meaning of the words. It is not simply “fear of water”. It means more. There can be other occasions with fear of water, while showering for example. Stramonium cannot tolerate water flowing over its head. Why? Because the water flowing over the head leads to the feeling that his breathing may be closed off and he could suffocate. That is also fear of water.

Or if someone goes into the sea. As soon as the person cannot see the bottom anymore, he develops a panic attack. Or if water is pouring down over him, he immediately feels closed in. He loses his breath, feels darkness… And then the panic comes.

I have seen these panic attacks again and again, coming after the death of the father in law for example. The Stramonium patient had been mistreating his father-in-law repeatedly. Then the father-in-law died.

From that day onward the father-in-law appeared to the patient in a frightening way. It’s not that he really appeared, like a ghost. But the guilt of the patient produced the father-in-law, terrifying his subconscious mind which had been loaded with guilt all these years. And then he developed a state of panic. “I can’t live with this!” I have seen several severe cases like this. They had to give up their jobs, they were sleepless entire nights…

But Stramonium can also go into the peripheral nervous system, and then you can see distortions, (imitates them)
