The Science of Homeopathy – page 54

Cortex of the adrenal gland.

Mesenchymal derivatives:

Connective tissue, cartilage and bone, including dentine. Myocardium and visceral musculature, including blood vessels. Endocardium and endothelium of blood vessels.

Lymph glands, lymph vessels, and spleen.

Blood cells.

Connective tissue sheaths of muscles, tendons, and nerve endings, and the synovial membranes of joints and bursae.

From this classification, it is clear that different organs and systems have a specific affinity for each other due to their common origin in one of the three primordial tissue layers. These affinities may eventu- ally be found to be important factors governing the predictable direc- tion of symptoms into ever deeper regions of the body as health degen- erates.

Summary of Chapter 3

  1. The human organism works as a totality always, whether per- forming its normal functions or defending itself from morbific stimuli.
  2. Signs and symptoms of a morbific stimulus can be seen on one or more of the three levels of existence.
  3. The organism always maintains a hierarchical importance of these three levels, and within each level. This can be represented by a three-dimensional diagram of cones.
  4. The defense mechanism creates the best defense possible at any given moment, always attempting to limit symptoms to the most pe- ripheral levels.
  5. Three factors affect changes in the center of gravity of distur- bance: hereditary strength or weakness of the defense mechanism, in- tensity of the morbific stimuli, and degree of interference by suppres- sive treatments.
  6. The center of gravity of disturbance may change in one of two directions: up or down within a single plane, or from one plane to an- other.
  7. There exist predictable pathways, with intermediate “stations” of defense, along which symptoms progress as general health deterio-
