The explanation for this phenomenon is probably that the blood chemistry of a mentally ill person becomes a very hostile environment for the recognized virus, bacteria or fungus.
According to this Model, the decrease in the number of people affected by infectious diseases and epidemics in the western world today is not only due to hygienic and sanitary measures but also to the fact that they cannot be infected due to the decline of the general level of health. The pathology of the population in general is so deep that it prevents the infectious diseases from taking hold and showing an increase in frequency. For instance, according to this Model, it will be almost impossible to infect a schizophrenic patient with AIDS no matter what quantity of the virus you inject into him. Furthermore, this Model suggests that if a severely disturbed mental patient were injected with the AIDS virus and then came down with the AIDS disease, the physical condition would automatically relieve his mental symptomatology.
44. It is quite difficult to discern whether bacteria, viruses or fungi have come from the outside environment or have developed endogenously due to certain specific internal conditions.
The question is whether microorganisms start multiplying at great speed once they have infected an organism with an environment conducive to their development, or whether the internal conditions of the organism have deteriorated to such a degree that these microorganisms are automatically produced by an endogenous process of mutation into new kinds of pathological viruses, bacteria or fungi.
The most probable hypothesis is that both processes can take place, with the critical parameter being the inner conditions of the organism or the degree of degeneration.
The idea that a virus or bacterium may mutate into another species which can be harmful to the organism is neither new nor unacceptable.5 Pasteur’s idea was that if the microbes and bacteria were killed the organism would be free of disease. This sounded plausible at the time, but diseases have not been eliminated even though this dictum has been followed rigorously.
