Female Genitalia
Chamomilla acts much more upon the female sexual organs than upon the male. It has cured a variety of complaints centred around menstruation, puberty, pregnancy, labour, confinement, lactation, and climacterium, nearly all of them accompanied by extreme irritability and oversensitivity, especially to pain. Hering has collected some mental symptoms in connection with ‘female complaints’ in his ‘Gynaecology and Obstetrics;’ for a closer look at these symptoms see ‘The Essential Features’ above. The mental and general symptoms will in most cases decide when Chamomilla should be administered; it will seldom be indicated where the irritable mood is not present.
A useful remedy in dysmenorrhoea and all kinds of uterine bleedings (metrorrhagia, post-partum haemorrhage, etc.) with extreme irritability and pain. The blood is usually profuse, very dark, even blackish, and clotted, and tends to be discharged in paroxysms.
