Celle Seminar I, Case 3: Syringomyelia

(G. V.): Where do you perspire the most?
(M.R): I sweat in the face the most.
(G. V.): Only your face?
(M.R): Sometimes I sweat around the shoulder area as well.
(G.V.): Otherwise you perspire mainly in the face. Does your
head sweat as well?
(M.R): My entire head. Of course, I sweat more when it’s warm
than at other times of the year. I also sweat when I do exercises
or participate in sports, but then I perspire all over.
(G. V.): Is your perspiration offensive? Does it smell bad?
(M.P.): No, it’s just normal body perspiration, not particularly
offensive or smelly. Perhaps that’s because I drink a lot of mineral water and other beverages.
(G.V.): Would you say that you are a thirsty person, someone
who drinks a lot?
(M.R): I wouldn’t say that I drink an excessive amount. When
it’s summer and the temperature rises, I drink a fair quantity. But on days like this, I usually drink the equivalent of two of those little bottles of mineral water, a half liter of milk, as well as a few other beverages.
(G. V.): What does your wife think of you? How would your wife describe you?
(M.R): That’s not something that we’ve really discussed seriously because she is too involved in the business with me and with the children. Naturally, she feels sorry for me and hopes I’ll get better. My wife has stuck by me. We really haven’t had time to discuss it at all. I guess I would have to ask her directly what she thinks of me.
(G.V.): Are you very anxious about your family? Do you worry about your wife and your children?
(M.P.): I don’t really have any concrete worries. I’m concerned that my children get jobs, that they do well, which are all the normal sort of worries that people have. I wouldn’t say that I’m truly worried about anything else. (G.V.): Do you have any particular fears? (M.R): No.
