person likes to stay behind the scenes. This person is always helping and trying to please others. Although he is closed to his own needs—he will not demand a thing for himself—he is very open to the needs of others.
Nux vomica is one of the main remedies for duodenal ulcers because of pressures in life, pressures and ambitions. These patients want to attain things, and they know that in order to do so, they must not insult others. But the energy inside them is so aggressive that they either have to insult other people or swallow their anger, which is then manifested later in a predisposition for gastritis, ulcers, duodenal ulcers, etc.
Graphites is another remedy that you should think of with duodenal ulcers, especially if there is a connection between a suppression of an eruption and a duodenal ulcer. If you see such a connection, then what the patient really means is, »Since I suppressed this eruption I have stomach pains.« This is a keynote for Graphites. It is one of the remedies that experiences a big amelioration immediately after eating. This is typical with a duodenal ulcer, therefore it is a common symptom for the pathology of a Graphites case to be ameliorated by eating. The amelioration you’ll see with this remedy is immediate, strong, and impressive.
Arsenicum stomach ulcers are ameliorated by sweet milk. Though sweet milk can be ameliorating with other remedies, Arsenicum is ameliorated very strongly and very effectively by drinking sweet milk. Warm milk is not as effective. The point is that it is sweet milk, whether lukewarm, warm or cold. The temperature doesn’t make that much of a difference.
Let’s consider Kali carbonicum again. Waking up during the night because of a duodenal ulcer is not pathognomonic of the Kalis. These patients wake up after three or four hours because their stomachs are empty. Don’t confuse a duodenal ulcer with this symptom, otherwise you will always wind up prescribing one of the Kalis.
Now, keeping all this in mind and given the woman’s story, what remedy was I thinking of in the beginning? I was thinking of Tarentula because of the initial description of the case: active;
