Celle Seminar I, Case 1: Epilepsy/Asthma

In order to help this patient, I feel that we should start with a low potency and then gradually go up. For instance, I would start with a 30th potency, which I would give three times a day. The next day she would receive the 31st potency, and then the 32nd, 33th, 34th, 40th, 60th, and so on for a month and then stop.
The problem in her case is how to tell whether or not the remedy has really had an ameliorating effect. Whatever the effect, I expect to see an aggravation of symptoms in the course of treatment; maybe her asthma will be aggravated, or perhaps the epileptic fits will be aggravated. Whatever you witness, the general rule is that when you begin to notice an aggravation of the patient’s condition, you should discontinue the remedy immediately and wait. You will have to decide how far this aggravation should be allowed to go before you step in and settle things down. In the following phase you should see some sort of amelioration; this is a sign that the allopathic drugs should be reduced. This case is very difficult to handle, and the patient must understand the specific problems that are involved when prescribing homeopathic remedies. And of course, the patient must agree with the method of procedure.
(A.l): What about LM potencies?
(G.V.): I believe that LM potencies are weaker than 30. LM potencies do not act as strongly as 30 potencies. If you are the practitioner in a case like this and an advocate of LM potencies, you can carry out the same sort of gradual increase of potencies: LM 1, LM 2, LM 3, etc., for two days, three days, four days, etc. I don’t have much experience with LM potencies, but I’ve heard from various students that these remedies sometimes render good results. I can only go on my own experience, and that’s why I usually only advise potencies that I know. Of course, you are always free to try out the LM potencies.
(A.2): C30?
(G.V.): Yes, C30.
(A.3):32?
