Celle Seminar I, Case 17: Chronic Gastritis

(F.P.): No, it was really more in the direction of pickles, marinat¬ed fish, etc. But I don’t eat such things at all now. (G. V.): Do you like pickles? (F.P.): Yes. (G.V.): Very much? (F.P.): Yes, I like pickled cucumbers.
(G. V.): Does putting a warm bottle on your stomach make you feel better immediately?
(F.P.): Yes, then I don’t feel the pain so much. It’s the same as if I were to climb into a hot bath, then I wouldn’t feel the pain so much either.
(G. V.): What position do you take when you’re in pain? (F.P.): No specific posture. At night I always lie on my stomach with the hot water bottle underneath.
(G.V.): So, you feel better when there’s a little pressure as well? (F.P.): The pressure does not really bother me. (G. V.): Is your desire for sweets strong? (F.P.): Only occasionally.
(G. V.): Can you describe the pains in your stomach? (F.P.): It rumbles and makes noises. I have bad breath. And sometimes I also get cramps, but not that often. When I’ve abdominal pain, I can always taste it in my mouth. (G. V.): Is the pain like a cramp? (F.P.): Rarely.
(G. V.): What kind of pain is it most of the time? (F.P.): It’s a continuous pain that doesn’t go away. It’s like a pulling and drawing pain; it’s difficult to describe. If I have stomach pains, I don’t have an appetite. Normally, I like eating and I like to eat a lot. If I don’t eat properly, I lose weight. (G.V.): You don’t have problems with your figure? (F.P.): Everybody envies me! (G. V.): Do you want to put on weight? (F.P.): I feel better when I weigh one or two pounds more. (G.V.): Let me see your tongue. Is the color of your menses normal, a bright red color? (F.P.): I would say it is normal.
