falling asleep; this was better after treatment. Her sleeping position is abdominal; her energy is best in the morning; in the evening she is tired. She cannot stand tight clothing in the abdominal region; her sex drive is normal; menstruation is normal. During her pregnancy she vomited for nine months, and she felt very bad. She likes warm weather and the sun, fresh air and the seaside. But she doesn’t like air drafts; they aggravate her.
Mental symptoms: She is quite restless and nervous; she more or less suffers from an inner restlessness, and she is constantly in action. If she does something, she has to do it quickly, for example, her housework. She cannot stand to leave things undone. She is a very vivid person with a sense of humor, and is very seldom in a depressive mood. Throughout all this time of stomach pain, she’s forced herself to lead a normal life. She likes company and relaxation, although achieving a relaxed mood is very difficult for her. She tried autogenic training, but it didn’t work for her. She always puts herself under pressure. She is ambitious, very tidy, cleans everything properly and accurately. She is always on time, and even beforehand she has problems with anticipation. She used to have an imperative stool urge before examinations. She discusses her problems with others. She seldom weeps, at least not easily, although sometimes, when the pain is very bad, she weeps. She tolerates contradiction. Her fears revolve around stomach cancer, because she heard that her disease can cause this and her maternal grandmother also had stomach cancer. She fears death and that a war may break out, but nothing else. She often travels to other countries with her husband, who is a salesman. She flies away every holiday and is on the road; she is very active then.
(F.P.): Every holiday we go on a trip abroad. (Therapist): Family history: Nearly everyone in her family has allergic diathesis. Her brother suffers from asthma. Her mother also had stomach problems and now she also has liver problems and wakes up at least ten times during the night. Her grandmother had stomach cancer.
