Celle Seminar I, Case 16: Rheumatoid Arthritis

(F.P.): I don’t belong to any party, but I sympathize with the Greens, the environmental party.
(G. V.): Do you consider yourself to be a person who takes initiative
(F.P.): It depends on the situation.
(G. V.): You said before that you will fight for your rights, things like that. I’d like to know how much of that is true. (F.P.): When it comes to general political things, I am fairly apathetic.
(G. V.): How do you feel about life in general? (F.P.): At the moment, I think life is very nice. But there have been times when it was quite different, when I was very depressed and thought there was no hope left. (G. V.): And what did you want to do when you were depressed? (F.P.): For example, when Chernobyl came up, the nuclear accident in Russia, and when there was the rearmament debate in Germany, I felt very depressed. I felt it was a situation which I could do absolutely nothing about. (G.V.): Do you have any fears? (F.P.): Oh, yes, a lot. (G. V.): Could you mention some?
(F.P.): I don’t like driving cars. I don’t like walking alone in the dark outside. I am frightened that something might happen to one of my relatives, which is my most important fear, I think. (G. V.): Do you have to turn on the light at night when you go to bed?
(F.P.): No.
(G.V.): You’re only afraid outside? Is it that you think someone might come up behind you? Are you afraid in general? Or are you afraid of ghosts? (F.P.): No, I don’t think so. (G.V.): Are you more afraid of human beings? (F.P.): It’s a sort of obscure fear, it’s not concrete. (G. V.): There is a remark here which says, »Boyfriend fighting in the relationship«, what does that mean?
