Celle Seminar I, Case 15: Forgetfulness/Depression

(G. V.): Do you remember words that you want to use, if you want, for instance, to say »book«? Or is it that you look at the book, but are unable to find the word that goes along with it? (RR): I don’t go as far as that! (G. V.): Are you also absent-minded?
(F.P.): During my last holiday it often happened that I’d read a whole page in a book and then turn the page and forget what I’d just read. This happened several times. (G.V.): Do you have an irritation?
(F.P.): I think this is probably an irritation from the sun. I was at the seaside and it was a bright sunny day. I think I may have a slight sunburn. (G.V.): Yesterday?
(RR): About ten days ago. I think I got burnt a little bit. My face was red, feels a bit like an eruption.
(G. V.): When you wake up in the morning, do you dislike having someone talk to you? Are you in a bad mood and don’t want to be talked to?
(F.P.): That’s right, but I’ve always been like that, even as a child. (G.V.): Do you dislike responding to something as simple as »Good morning« ?
(P.P.): I think that if someone doesn’t say anything beyond that, I’d certainly reply. I’ve been like this since childhood. I’m not a particularly communicative person in the morning. (G.V.): Are you anxious about your health in general? (RR): I never used to worry about it because I am really quite healthy, but now the thought of getting arteriosclerosis, like the rest of my family, is a traumatic idea; everyone in my family wor¬ries about this. (G.V.): Do you eat fat? (P.P.): Yes.
(G.V.): Do you like it a lot?
(RR): Yes, I know it’s not very good for me, but I like it. (G. V.): When others leave the fat on their plates, do you sometimes take it and eat it yourself? (F.P.): No, I don’t do that because it makes me fat.
