Celle Seminar I, Case 14: Chronic Vomiting

(G.V.): What happens if she is alone?
(Mother): If I even want to look at the newspaper she starts moaning.
(G. V.): She definitely wants attention.
(Mother): Yes, that’s why this situation here is all right for her. Everybody is sitting around and looking at her. She loves that. (G.V.): Have you ever given her Pulsatilla? (Mother): Well, I gave it after the birth on a doctor’s recommendation because I’d taken it during pregnancy and he thought it might help her, but it didn’t. Then she had jaundice and was put under light therapy. Sometime later she got Cina, because of this umbilical thing; it was given to her by another doctor. I don’t really know whether the effect of Pulsatilla was cancelled out or not. In any case, it did not stop her complaints. There were maybe two weeks between those two remedies, but in those two weeks the hiccups were not at all ameliorated and she also developed this granuloma. She received a lot of Pulsatilla during the pregnancy because that was the only remedy that even slightly relieved my nausea, and so I took it several times. She doesn’t like to have dirty hands. She comes to me if her hands are dirty. But she is also used to being cleaned a lot because she vomits a lot and I have to clean her very frequently. (G.V.): Does she have excessive salivation? (Mother): During dentition she had a little bit of bloody salivation, but that was always when the new tooth finally broke through. She has a little bit of hiccups now. (G. V.): Does she stay awake late at night?
(Mother): She goes to sleep between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. These days she stays up until 11:30 p.m. sometimes. (G. V.): Can’t she go to bed earlier? (Mother): No.
(G.V.): She doesn’t want to?
(Mother): No. And she doesn’t go to bed by herself, that is, you cannot put her to bed and say, »Bye, bye, go to sleep!« You have to stay with her until she is finally really asleep. You have to carry her around and pat her back, and play with her until very late.
