Celle Seminar I, Case 10: Neurodermatitis

(G. V.): Do you grind your teeth at night?
(Mother): No, but my husband does.
(G. V.): Strongly?
(Mother): Yes, very much.
(G. V.): Is your husband a difficult person?
(Mother): Yes, we are separated now.
(G.V.): Was he very calm?
(Mother): No.
(Therapist): And the stool is undigested sometimes.
(Mother): Always.
(G. V.): Okay. Thank you.

ANALYSIS

(G.V.): In cases involving children it is often difficult to get much information, either because the parents are not observant, or because there are very few symptoms to go on, although the symptoms you will see are usually very strong. You will always see other problems with children who have neurodermatitis. Neurodermatitis seems to be a disease of our time, because it is a combination of allergic situations and what we do to our bodies: vaccinations, allergies, allergens, and the degeneration of our defenses. You are bound to encounter some hard to handle cases of neurodermatitis in the course of your practice. The worst problem with these cases is that, especially with children, the illness can be severely aggravated. Therefore, you will have to be very patient and try to understand what has taken place, otherwise you will just wind up aggravating the situation more.
I have a story to tell you relevant to this case, just to give you an idea of what I mean. This was a similar case, in Athens, which was attended by one of the American doctors who was working in Athens for a couple of years in the Center. A child was brought in, and we prescribed either Sulphur or Arsenicum, I’ve forgotten exactly which.
