(G. V.): I can see that you are experiencing a lot of feelings at the moment, strong feelings. Can you describe these feelings? What exactly are you feeling?
(F.P.): It’s all so very new, and I feel very much the center of attention.
(G.V.): Do you like that? (F.P.): No.
(G.V.): What feelings are you having? (F.P.): I am very, very tense and uptight. (G.V.): I can see that; you have to breathe deeply. (F.P.): I’m almost shaking. (G.V.): Is this an unpleasant feeling? (F.P.): Yes, unpleasant. It is not normal. (G.V.): How would you describe your normal character? (F.P.): Not so excited. I’m normally a quiet person. (G. V.): Do you feel now that you are losing control? (F.P.): No, I would just prefer to be calmer. (G.V.): Do you have brothers or sisters? (F.P.): Yes, three. (G.V.): Are they all healthy? (F.P.): Yes.
(G.V.): Do you have good relationships with them? (F.P.): Yes.
(G.V.): Can you describe the type of asthma you have? (F.P.): I feel that the asthma attacks predominantly occur when I have a cold and also in allergic conditions. For example, when I come into contact with dog hair or other animal hair, then the attacks are such that I almost suffocate. It is very difficult for the bronchi to adjust to changes from hot to cold or vice versa. Every time I exert myself, I feel that my body can’t cope; I can’t breathe. My bronchi also suffer spasms when I have to cough strongly.
(G. V.): Do you cough a lot?
(F.P.): Only under acute conditions. I normally don’t cough a lot. (G.V.): Do you bring up sputum when you cough? (F.P.): No.
