and what the truth is. I think that’s why he is paralyzed by this question. All this leads me in the direction of Causticum.
(G.V.): Why? Does Causticum seek the truth, or does he concern himself with what is just? There is a difference.
(A.7): There is a difference, but in this case it might be the same thing.
(G.V.): What is just? And Causticum is always a revolution-ary-
(A.7): He is kind of an anarchist, he has no connection to anybody, he is completely-
(G.V.): No, you are going too far now in making him out to be an anarchist!
(A.7): Well, not in a political sense!
(G.V.): But you’ve gone too far. You might have been justified in saying that this is a case of Staphisagria—which was given without an effect—but he never would have had the courage to start a revolution. Causticum would have revolted against that sort of thing. But this is not the core of his problem. What is really at the center of his illness? Let me ask you a question: Would you say that this person is a closed person, a very closed person, a very, very closed person, or an open person? What would you assume just by looking at him? He seems very, very, very closed, doesn’t he? We can start with this observation because it is a fact that everyone can see. So, we proceed from here and ask ourselves, »Why is he so closed?« Our next step should be to look for an explanation. Why did the patient become so closed? I’ll direct this question to the women in the seminar. Do you think it’s because he’s unattractive? I hear »No«, inspite of the fact that he has alopecia, which is aesthetically very unpleasant. He admitted never having had a relationship with a woman in his life, even though his sexual desire is quite strong. All these facts rule out the possibility of Sepia because this sort of run down constitution is not accompanied by the typical Sepia sexuality, which should be very low. On the contrary, in his case sexuality is quite strong. What has happened? Keep in mind that he is very closed and feels unloved. A person who feels unloved is someone who feels that
