Pneumonia
1 will show you now a case of a spiritual person. She’s a very spiritual person, as you will hear, doing meditation ard all that. She has pneumonia, and she has already been given several different remedies. She’s convinced that she must not take antibiotics. The pneumonia has been going on now for five or six days, 1 don’t remember exactly how long, and you will sec something very peculiar: the patient does not understand that she is going to die. At the moment this anamnesis took place she is dying, and she will describe this experience after she is well. She will say: »I was dying and I did not realize it. I was leaving my body and I did not lake it into considerations You will see something fantastic, the American way of life and style: drive, drive, drive; attain, attain, attain; ambition. The only peculiarity here is that she is spiritually ambitious; she says that her body means nothing to her. Let us sec the case; it docs not contain much psychology.

(Therapist): She is a t’ai chi teacher who came in on the 27th complaining of acute bronchitis. She complains of chronic, allergies and what she calls candidiasis infection – we have a lot of people coming in claiming thai they have that – but this acute illness began after she’d been overworking. She says she pushes herself very much. This is a woman that I did not know before, she had been seeing someone else. She wants to do everything for her students, and describes herself as very sympathetic. She was drinking a lot of lea to keep going. She had not been getting enough sleep when she came down with this bronchitis; she had to breathe very shallowly or she would cough. She also complained constantly that if she even leans, much less lies down, in any direction, it will stimulate her cough. So she has had to prop herself upright all night long. And the first day, the way she said it, especially lying on her back. She does not like to lie on her left side because she feels her heart. Her chest and abdomen hurt when she coughs, and also she gets tremendous head pains when she coughs. She had been experiencing some dizziness and fainlness, so that in the office she would have to hunch forward a little bit because the dizziness was when site sat erect. She has a poor appetite, slightly thirsty for large amounts, and she said that it increased at that point. She was
