If you connect this picture with the idea of Argentum nitricum looking down from a high place, thinking: “What a terrible thing it would be to jump”, it shows how his thoughts are connected with his impulses. The thoughts are: “What a terrible thing that would be, oh….!”
And in his imagination he has jumped down and he has seen himself smashed down there on the street. Then he comes to his senses and thinks: “My God, what am I doing?”
That is Argentum nitricum. This is typical, and if he gives you such symptoms you will say: “Thank you very much! That is very nice, that is very interesting.”
I’ll give you another example, because we can only learn from examples. Can you imagine how Argentum nitricum crosses a street? The street is empty, he could easily cross the street now. In the distance one can see cars approaching from both sides. Argentum nitricum waits until the cars are fairly near, and then he starts to cross the street. And his imagination is full of images how the car runs over him and kills him.
This is pathology. This is what we want to cure, not his character. Because all these people I described to you have different characters, different characteristics. But the pathology is similar.
If we wanted to describe an Argenturn nitricum case with few words, we could say that it is an over-emotional, impulsive individual with weakening mental faculties, allowing a host of impulses and fears to arise. We are dealing with an individual whose power of coordination and balance has been upset on all levels.
