The Celle Seminars_Page 480

I am very glad that we are talking about the classical Hahnemannian homeopathy at this moment in Germany. I also want to stress, as you have seen in my analyses, that I am not the type of person who just throws in an idea and says, »This is the remedy!« without giving an explanation. You’ll never hear me say, »Well, maybe that’s the remedy, but I don’t know exactly why.« This is something that I think I brought into homeopathy. Before me, regardless of who you went to, they would pick out a remedy and justify it by saying, »Well, according to me this is the remedy. « That was the practice in India when I was studying at colleges there. Even while at Calcutta College, where I went to study specifically because I knew that one of Kent’s pupils was teaching there, I still didn’t hear anything different and, I am very sorry to say, I didn’t learn anything there. For one, perhaps my instructor was too old; he never told us his age, but he must have been over eighty. Second, the hospital there was so little. When we visited a patient he would just name a remedy and move on to the next case. Everyone would wonder about his choice, but if someone ventured to ask why he’d chosen that particular remedy, he’d tell them to go home and study. Well, we studied and studied, but we never understood why he preferred this remedy and not another in a particular case. He never gave us an explanation. That’s why I’ve always found it important to explain how and why I arrived at a particular remedy.
Well, I guess we’ve arrived at the end of the seminar. I am very happy about the way things went, and I hope that you are even happier than I am. I know that it has been an exhausting seminar and, for that I reason, I especially want to thank everyone for their patience and kindness. Thank you.
