Case 15: Forgetfulness/Depression

INTERVIEW

(Therapist): This patient was born in 1938. She has three children. Her complaints are that she forgets everything, is tired in the morning, and has migraines on the left side only, every week, mostly on Saturday, which travel downward from the left eye to her ear and then neck. She is better lying down and worse in the sun; better with cold applications; starts on waking; stiffness in the morning; bleeding hemorrhoids after stool, which she has very often.
Anamnesis: She had a tonsillectomy at twelve years of age; around then she had several bouts with chronic nephritis which were better with warm applications. Migraines since the age of twenty-eight when she was doing adult education, going to school again. Beginning climacteric state. Several operations on varicose veins. In 1969, swelling of the liver after her father’s death; she was hospitalized. In 1980, rheumatic pains in the left arm and shoulder, for which she was given strong allopathic remedies. In 1980, acute hypothyreoidism. She received radio-iodine treatment. Later on she had gallbladder stones, which were dissolved. Oral eczema since 1986; she used Cortisone cream three times. She’s had vaginal mycosis many times.
Family anamnesis: mother, grandmother, and all her mother’s sisters had gallbladder stones, migraines, and sclerosis; this last illness she feels most acutely. Her father had cancer of the stomach.
Symptoms: Desire for sweets (3x); fish; fruit, not too sweet; fried eggs with bread and salt; milk (2x); fat bacon. Aversion to sour foods. Stool alternating between diarrhea and constipation. Sweats easily when moving in the heat, accompanied by palpitations. Sometimes sweats during night. Sleeping position: right-
