Celle Seminar I, Case 14: Chronic Vomiting

There are also quite a lot of Arsenicum symptoms in the child. Still, I contend that the first course of action is simply to wait and see what happens, while keeping the remedies we’ve discussed in mind. Pulsatilla is also a possibility in this case, as well as Ver-atrum, because of the intensity of the vomiting and desire for salty things. When we see projectile vomiting in children, we should think of Veratrum album. But I would expect to see more restlessness and more excitability in a Veratrum album child, therefore I would not give it. The most logical choice, were you to give anything, would be Sulphur.
(A.13): The child doesn’t seem as shabby as the usual Sulphur child.
(G.V.): We agree.
(A.13): Shouldn’t the head injury caused by the vacuum extraction be taken into consideration, because the eczema developed afterwards, after the-
(G.V.): As far as I understood, the injury she suffered was not major enough to cause brain damage or problems. The child does not seem to have a Natrum element because she is quite extroverted. From what her mother described, I can see some points that might indicate Lachesis, although I have my doubts. It is a matter of attention, the child wants attention, there is no question about that. We may be able to put this down as jealousy, although I would have a problem with that. Because of all these uncertainties, I can’t stress enough how important it is that you wait before giving her a remedy.
(A.14): Calcarea phosphorica is another possibility because it has certain points like the navel, stretching the back, and the sort of vividness this child displays. We also see other supporting points: she likes salt and smoked things, and she is not able to digest milk properly. Even her jealousy is Calcarea phosphorica in the rubric.
(G.V.): I have problems with Calcarea phosphorica. In such a case I would expect Calcarea phosphorica to groan and moan much more than she does. If she had described a much more typ-
