run into difficulties because there is no one remedy that seems to cover the entire picture. Despite the fact that the child has strong symptoms, what remedy are you going to give when there is no real clear symptomatology? I would do two things: First, I would wait and not give anything because she seems to get the quantity and quality of food that she needs to grow on. Therefore, I would say that waiting is the preferable course of action in this case. The second course of action would be to give a remedy anyway in order to develop better symptomatology. There are a few remedies which we prescribe in cases where we do not have a clear picture. These are Sulphur, Sepia, Nux vomica, and Thuja; but most of all Sulphur because it brings out a reaction. If you repertorize, you will most probably come upon Sulphur because it is one remedy that is applicable in a vast variety of situations. But here we also see certain things peculiar to Sulphur: First, she goes to bed very late, which we know is a very strong Sulphur symptom; second, we see a history of skin eruptions; third, the child has problems with sleeplessness, waking up frequently during the night. If you repertorize further, looking under desires liquids, you will see Sulphur there; easy vomiting, also Sulphur; worse warm, Sulphur again. If you look up desires attention, then you will see also the selfishness of Sulphur, a selfishness which can stem from as early as childhood.
Despite all this support for Sulphur, you should not be content just to give it in a case like this. Why? Because there is, if you remember, an aversion to sweets, but with Sulphur you would expect a desire for sweets, although we do see both desire and aversion in the repertory. So, if you aren’t willing to follow the first course of action, which is to wait, and you feel that you must give something—a course of action which I strongly disagree with—the remedy that you should prescribe is Sulphur. If the symptomatology is not very clear, a dose of Sulphur should help to bring the picture more into focus; at best it might bring about a curative or at least an ameliorative reaction. However, we also hear that the child likes to take baths very much which does not support Sulphur.
