Celle Seminar I, Case 8: Psoriasis

(F.P.): Not very much.
(G. V.): Do you have any fears?
(F.P.): Oh, yes, a lot. I’m afraid of escalators, of stepping on
them. I don’t like to ride on a merry-go-round or anything that
lifts me off the ground. I also have a kind of claustrophobia in
small rooms if the door is shut.
(G.V.): You have not described yourself to me yet. What kind of
a person are you?
(F.P.): I have a low sense of self-confidence, but it’s greater than
it used to be.
(G. V.): Do you feel happy inside?
(F.P.): No, because of my physical problems; they are too great.
(G.V.): What bothers you the most right now, the headaches?
(F.P.): Yes, and the infections, the colds, and the sensitivity of my
stomach. I had a duodenal ulcer last winter. It’s not acute at all,
but-
(G. V.): What do you have there, discomfort?
(F.P.): Discomfort and a little pain.
(G.V.): Do you have it all the time, or does it start three or four
hours after eating?
(F.P.): Only if I eat the wrong things, like food that’s too spicy or
too fatty. I think my pancreas is not functioning properly. I have
a feeling of low blood sugar, I start to tremble.
(G. V.): If you eat sugar, does it calm down?
(F.P.): It’s a little better, but not completely.
(G.V.j: What kind of weather do you like?
(F.P.): At the moment, I like cold weather better. Normally I treat
my skin with ultraviolet light, but now you can see by my skin
that I’ve stopped it. I miss the light since I’ve been abroad. My
skin has become a lot worse since I’ve been away from home.
(G.V.): Could you spend time in the sun while abroad?
(F.P.): No, I had to wear a hat because of the headaches.
(G. V.): What type of a person are you? Describe your character.
(F.P.): I did a little. It’s very difficult.
(G.V.): Why?
