that will have to take place in his body before he begins to feel better.
(A.2): What about his immaturity, do you expect any changes there?
(G.V.): He is an intelligent boy who appears to be immature, like most Pulsatilla cases. Pulsatilla is somewhat naive because she hasn’t learned how to deal with day-to-day conflicts. Pulsatilla patients will always try to hold onto someone, to find someone to solve their problems for them. They tend to cry and complain. Why is he so mild? Because he has not learned how to fight. When Pulsatilla engages in a fight, her behavior shows that she does so more to attract attention than to win an argument. That’s why we usually see an element of immaturity in Pulsatilla. You can’t expect to see an improvement in his immaturity within a year, but within several years you might see some changes. You will also see this element of immaturity in remedies like Baryta carbonica, where the patient wants to stay in a state of babyhood because he feels most comfortable there. These patients have a tendency to say things like, »I don’t want to grow up!« You will see another aspect of this state in Bufo, and yet another aspect with Cicuta virosa where the patient shows more pathology: his brain does not develop.
Concerning the potency: Because of the severity of the disease, we could not think of giving more than 200. This is absolutely the highest we can go. If we follow the path of high potencies, we would begin with 200 and then observe. If we follow the path of low potencies and go slowly—LM potencies, maybe LM 2, LM 3—then we can gradually observe the changes. I am tempted to give a stronger potency, either 30 and then work up, or 200 right away. In either case I would take the potency up to 200. But in case there is an aggravation, you should start with low potencies because you can always go higher later on if necessary. I expect that there will be a reaction, although I can’t predicate how strong it will be.
