Celle Seminar I, Case 7: Fabry-Anderson Syndrome

more. He is very thin. I don’t know if you could appreciate that on the video. I don’t remember how many kilograms he weighs, but he is indeed very thin. So, the prognosis is that there will be a slow improvement, starting with him gaining weight. That is the only sure sign that you can expect to see within two months. After one or two months he may accept that the pains are a little bit better, but you can’t be sure of this. At first he will not be able to accept that his pains are indeed better because they will still be essentially the same in nature: a little bit of exertion and then the onset of a burning pain. But then you have to ask yourself, is he exerting himself now in the same way as before? The more intelligent the patient, the less precise is the information he’ll give in this respect. I believe that he will accept his improvement because he is a straightforward person. Still, those who have suffered a lot often have great expectations of a treatment. You must be aware that when a patient reports that »everything is the same,« perhaps what they really mean is that there’s been no radical improvement. Because his digestion is better, that’s what his weight gain really means. Two more kilograms? Perfect! You see, it doesn’t matter whether he complains about his pains because you now have a sign that improvement is nevertheless taking place. You should wait for at least one year to see how the remedy works before considering moving on to another. You might ask yourself, how effective is a treatment that you have to wait a year on? But I say that a year is nothing when dealing with diseases like this! Don’t forget, you are trying to improve a genetic defect. You have to keep in mind all the physical changes
