Celle Seminar I, Case 3: Syringomyelia

(G.V.): Are you perspiring now? (M.P.): No.
(G. V.): You are quite overweight. Is this because you have a very good appetite, or do you just put on weight easily? (M.P.): I put on weight very easily. I’m trying to restrict my weight gain by eating a lot of fruit in the evening instead of heavier foods. I know that, because of my legs, it is important that I keep my weight down. But I don’t eat a lot. (G. V.): Do you have a good appetite? (M.R): Yes, a normal appetite.
(G. V.): Why do you have that adhesive bandage on your finger? (M.P.): When I’m in pain I tend to chew my fingers. I’ve chewed them so hard that I’ve bitten the skin off my fingers. I’ve taped my fingers with adhesive bandages in order to prevent myself from chewing them any further. In my job, nobody notices that my fingers are bandaged or asks any questions, because everybody in my job cuts himself periodically.
(G. V.): Does this mean that the pain is better when hard pressure is applied?
(M.P.): No, biting does not stop the pain between my fingers, it’s just a habit I’ve developed over the last twelve months. But I am trying to stop now.
(G.V.): When did you give him Plumbum? Do you remember?
(Therapist): Yes, the first time was in January of this year. I have found it very difficult to get out of him whether this remedy was
effective or not.
(G.V.): Have you experienced any trembling in your hands or
legs?
(M.P.): My leg shakes.
(G. V.): Is it the left leg that shakes? Does your right leg hurt more
than your left?
(M.P.): It’s primarily my left leg that causes me problems, although recently my right leg has begun to trouble me as well. My
left leg tends to shake, and my right leg tends to be more numb
and is more sensitive to pain.
(G.V.): And the pain is mostly in your right arm?
