A New Model For Health And Disease – Page 196

ments which should take place. Artists should come to the schools to give students a feeling for art. Ecology will be another important aspect of the educational programs. But most of all, the school will need spiritual mentors who have perceived another dimension to life and can impart to the students their wisdom and teachings of love and compassion—all necessary to the whole human being, In short, these schools will prepare students to become true healers and pillars of society.
All these special teachers will not only provide the necessary knowledge for treating disease but will shape the moral foundations of students in the best possible way, preparing them to become the initiates of a "New Society" which will attempt to provide more justice and happiness. Today the world urgently needs such educational centers, and I am sure it has the resources to build them.
What is extremely important at this moment is that knowledge be made available that can really benefit the patient and society. Much of this information has not been advanced as it should have; instead it has been suppressed.
Students from these new schools should receive this broad education over a period of at least eight years, so that before they start practicing they will have enough experience of life. Their education should be free of charge.
I would also expect that the students who graduate from such centers will get a "degree" but not a "license" to practice medicine. The school should give only knowledge, not privileges. The privileges will be earned in the application of their science in everyday practice, where their understanding and knowledge will be tested constantly.

The idea of "selection" should continue until the last day of their education, and only the most able and dedicated should be allowed to graduate. It is for this reason that the students’ education should be supported by government and insurance agency funds, and not by the students themselves. To be accepted to such a school would be considered a great distinction, automatically drawing the admiration, respect and support of societv.
