turmoil, you feel that you are dealing with a very peaceful person. In your practice you see a man who from the characteristics of his face you expect to be instinctive to the point of being violent and uncontrollable, with thick lips, thick eyebrows, deep recesses on his face, gross features, and you are so surprised to see that he is so mild that you can hardly believe it. There is such innocence in their eyes and in the expression on their face that you immediately perceive that either they put on such a face in order to be likable, or this is a Cicuta situation.
The expression ‘angelic face’ is very much to the point. Yet under¬neath this appearance, the perceptive observer will see the other face, that of distortion, of violence, of strabismus, of jerks, of convulsive movements. You perceive that this person can easily change into a delinquent, who could steal, drink, and do all kinds of things that are antisocial.
It is not real innocence, it is an appearance of innocence. The organism is in a deep imbalance that swings from the appearance of innocence and childishness to the expression of evil, malice, and wrong-doing. In taking the history of the patient you will often find this theme; the malice of the previous life and the innocence of the present situation, where the disease has simply gone to another level of the brain, transformed into convulsions, into frightful epileptic fits with horrible distortion of the face and strabismus. Injury to the head has simply transferred the imbalance to another area of the brain.
Cicuta is the main remedy you will need if you hear that after an injury to the head, the character of the person has changed from been aggressive and uncontrollable to a yielding, sweet and angelic one. In any case such a change cannot come without some deep and serious affection on the more peripheral nervous system. In Cicuta the problem is simply transferred in to another area of the brain, definitely more peripheral, but at the same time the imbalance is intensified due to the shock.
