A New Model For Health And Disease – Page 141

Evaluation of the human structure by the defense mechanism is amazing in complexity; even the most brilliant scientific mind cannot conceive its true dimension and meaning. In its evaluation the organism gives primary importance to the mental-spiritual plane and next to the emotional-psychic levels; consequently, the tendency of the defense mechanism is to protect these levels first from any possible disturbance. The organism will not allow a disturbance to easily manifest on these levels.
In spite of this logical evaluation by nature itself, these components of human existence have been the least understood by the logical, scientific, medical mind. They have been either unappreciated or appreciated for the wrong reasons and on the whole, they have largely been ignored. It is only when pain and suffering are present on these levels that we become aware of their existence and understand that they are actually very important components of our being. It is a well-known fact, attested to by many, that emotional suffering is unbearable and much worse than physical pain. Actually very few suicides have been committed because of physical pain. Most of these desperate, final acts have been undertaken because of emotional or mental suffering.
40. If stimulated properly (curatively), the organism will always tend to reorganize itself on all its planes and levels. If it cannot attain a "total cure," then it will tend to first heal its deeper and more essential parts and then proceed to the less essential and peripheral parts of its structure.
According to cybernetic laws, the organism will never heal an inflamed joint (peripheral part) if this leads to the detriment of more central parts or functions. Thus when strong anti-inflammatory drugs such as corticosteroids are used on an inflamed joint, much more serious symptoms appear in deeper, more important areas of the organism. In a really curative procedure, where the right kind of stimulation (therapy) has been applied, the organism will try to push the disorder into more peripheral areas, while at the same time relieving the central parts. It will do the opposite if the stimulation is wrong or suppressive, e.g. chemotherapy, corticosteroids, etc. This is another important
