Motion, especially if sudden and violent, will provoke pain in the abdomen and chest, and make the dyspnoea worse. Eating, and more so drinking alcohol, will provoke or aggravate complaints. Sitting up in bed will ameliorate the respiratory symptoms. Haemorrhages, as haemoptysis, haematemesis, melaena, epistaxis, etc., may ameliorate the general state and the most distressing symptoms of the patient.
The ailments tend to prefer the right side.
